The Original Albany Firebirds were a team in the Arena Football League. They won the 1999 ArenaBowl. They were more successful in Albany than in Indiana. The name "Albany Firebirds" was chosen as a new name for the city's new af2 team, the Albany Conquest in 2009, the second incarnation of the original franchise, playing one season as the firebirds before disbanding.
